How to Find the Investment Advisor Which Fits Your Needs

October 4, 2016

17176512_mThe media keeps everyone in a fear mode and playing a guessing game regarding the economy. No one can predict how the general stock market is going to react to the news of the day.

However, understanding what each of your investments does, how the company’s management thinks, and allowing time for the management to put their ideas into play requires calm, a belief in your own judgement, and a willingness to continually stay informed regarding areas which can affect the company’s bottom line.

Why hire a Registered Investment Advisor?

If you are not interested in doing the work required to make your money grow, then honor yourself and hire a RIA (Registered Investment Advisor).

When you begin to research RIA’s locally you will want to ask them a few questions.  Here are a few starting questions.

  • How long have they been in business?
  • How do they get paid?
  • Do they design portfolio’s full of products?
  • Can you see some portfolio’s?
  • Do they invest in individual stocks?
  • How frequently can you reach them?
  • Why they invest the way they do?

Listen to the tone of their voice, watch their eyes as they answer these questions.  Why?  Because you want to deal with someone that has a passion for the stock market and truly wants to make your money work for you.

I started in the corporate world and after 16 years I started my own company because I wanted to make my clients money without pressure to sell products.  Yes, early on I sold products.  After a few years I wanted to learn how to buy stocks.  I called the head of stock trading and for one year I worked with him   That is when my clients and I began to make real money.

Do not be swayed by the advertisements which continually talk about their product diversifies your money.  When you own individual stocks in different industries you are diversifying.

Please know that investing can be fun, interesting, and over time will give you nice returns.  It is up to you to find the RIA which you are comfortable with, offers the best opportunity for you to make money, and then be patient and allow your money time to grow.

Change your view of investing from one of fear to one of opportunity.  Investing gives you the opportunity to one day have more financial freedom.  If you will do your part then call me and I will do my part.
